Located in a historic XV century Mansion of the Counts of Alpuente (Los condes de Alpuente), and situated in the heart of the Historic Center (“Casco Antiguo”) of Segovia, the Centro de Estudios Hispánicos provides its modern facilities to American Universities interested in designing comprehensive and individualized programs for their students.
In addition to the classrooms, the Center possesses an excellent library of books in the humanities (especially Spanish Art and Literature), and modern Computer Lab. Visiting faculty is provided a shared office with a computer and printer.
The Centro de Estudios Hispánicos shares space with Horizonte Cultural, a non-profit Cultural Association serving Spanish University students. The Centro and Horizonte Cultural also share a special relationship, and in addition to organizing language exchanges between the American and Spanish students, we jointly plan and organize other cultural and social activities for students. The American students studying at the Centro de Estudios Hispánicos will also have access to the myriad events and promotions of Horizonte Cultural. One of the principal merits of the Centro's programs is its ability to promote interaction between American and Spanish students, something which other study abroad programs rarely achieve.
The Center's primary interest is to create quality programs for a select number of American universities. With that end in mind the Center director gives a great deal of personal attention to all aspects of the program. The Center director oversees most activities, accompany's students on excursions, organizes family stays, generally teaches in the program, takes students to doctor's when necessary is available to advise srudents, and tries to attend to most of their needs
